How Do I remove The Gear Knob From My Peugeot 206?

Sorry guys, but is there a bit of brute force and ignorance at play here? I pulled hard as many have suggested, and succeeded in removing the whole gear lever from the top of the gear-box! Forums are helpful some of the time, but not this time!

Just undo the zip tie undernieth turn the gear knob left then pull up and it will come off

if you replace the gear knob and break the white sleeve under neath it can you get another one ??

cut the gaitor zippy cover put gearstick in fourth gear and pull you may have to turn it to the left until you hear a click to snap the white clips then straightforward swap hope this helps

I bought a `universal knob which doesn't fit over the white shaft!!! :-( can that be removed as well????

If it's the original knob then you have to remove the gaitor housing (the leather thing around the stick for novices) as the knob extends to under the gaitor and no amount of pulling will remove it without doing this first. It's easy to remove just by lifting from the long edges first and it slips out. The gaitor is secured into the middle of the bottom of the knob by a zippy tie that you have to cut. You can then just pull the whole knob up with a little bit of force but it slips up revealing a white plastic shaft. I just secured the new knob to this as per instructions (just a universal one from the auto shop) then used another zippy tie under the gaitor to secure it so the white shaft didn't show. Looks like new. Anyone can do this. I'm a women. ;)

How on earth do you get it Off cos i have used everything i can think of and it still will not come off!! Ive pulled and pulled at it time and time again isnt there another way? Would apreciate the help

some of the gear knobs have to be turned left and you will feel a click and the alignment strips are in the correct position for removal. then pull on gear knob and it will come off, with a bit of force.

you take off the gaitor and just pull it off the gear stick but with a lot of force as the rubber thing that attatches to knob to the stick is really tough to pull off.

You just pull it off!! It may not feel like it wants to budge, but keep pulling and it does come off! Don't get too close to it as I did as i smacked myself in the mouth with the gear lever when it did come off!

The new gear knob/gaiter will simply push on.
