How to finalize dvd-R disc?

I have transferred part of my home movie to DVD-R disc until full, It will play on my recorder but not on my daughter's, can anyone give simple step by step instructions please on how to finalize. I have a Panasonic DVD Recorder DMR-E85H and cannot understand operating instructions on how to finalise.

I also have a Panasonic, so hope it's the same answer... You go to me menu and go to the disk functions. It's the same menu you use to format a blank DVD when you start the process. Finalize is at the bottom of the list... Good luck.

I have a sanyo VCR/DVD. To finalise a disc, I open the menu, then scroll down to "DVD Menu" and select "Finalise"
Easy!

Before you go to Disk SetUp you need to switch from HD to DVD. Then you will get the option to Finalize your disk. If you don't switch to DVD you will only get the option to Format and if you press YES you will end up erasing the contents of your HD. BTW you can only Format the HD or a DVD-RAM. The device will not Format a DVD-R.

You will be able to recover an interupted lead-out (finalization) by using a program called CDRoller.

Is there a way to recover the information if I did happen to interupt the finalization stage?

Take care, as I believe FINALIZE is under the FORMAT DISC option, although you DO NOT want to use the FORMATTING function.

Since FORMATTING is for DVD-RAM discs only, you shouldn't be able format your DVD-R by mistake. On the safe side DON'T confirm any message asking if you want to FORMAT the disc.

Take care and look under that same menu option for the FINALIZE function.

On the handsets...
Select FUNCTION -->

On screen menu appears....
Using the arrow buttons on the handset, select...
DISC MANAGMENT-->
FORMAT DISC -->
FINALIZE

Once at the FINALIZE option, use the arrow keys to select...
YES then press ENTER
START then press ENTER

Do not interupt the power to the DVD Recorder during FINALIZE or the disc may become unusable.

When it has completed finalizing the disc, takes about 15mins, press ENTER at the prompt.

The DVD-R becomes DVD-V and you'll be able to play it on any DVD player but no longer be able to record onto it.
