whats wrong with my starter?

Starter motor needs a new Bendix.
just had mine repaired at auto electricians. fine now.
mine was just whizzing on start up. I think its the clutch thas goes inside the Bendix.

check ring gear when starter is removed,ensure you check the full circumference by putting a mark on flywheel and turning untill mark re-appears.

As the starter turns a toothed cog is thrown forward against spring tension to engage with the teeth on the engine's flywheel.

Clearly the toothed cog on your starter motor is not being thrown forward.

I just guess - I am not a motor engineer - I learned this from my father in the 1950s
