I have a Simpson Genesis 511 washing machine?

My machine stop while washing and sometimes by lifting the lid and dropping it back down it resumes washing

could also be a blockage in the pressure system,or a faulty pressure switch,or indeed the water valve sticking open

Check the inlet valve is actually turning off. Start filling the water. After a few seconds press the timer knob in to stop the flow. Water should stop straight away, no hesitation. Try it several times. If the water still keeps flowing after the timer is stopped then change the inlet valve for a new one.
