Take radio out and place it in a small bag. Place the bag in the middle of a busy road just before sun up. After two hours no more problems with radio.

my cd just kept spinning then said E12 the radio was fine but no cd player. Got the tool from Halfords 2 pairs of bars which I bought online for a wopping 99p instore it would have been £5.99 inserted the bars in as far as I could and the unit popped out lovely. Then I disconnected all of the cables from the radio and left it out for 10 mins then pluggled the cables back in and entered the radio code and now the cd player works perfect.

This may help I had the same problem (E12 error) and tried various suggestions such as disconnecting an reconnecting, cleaning the lens etc. Then I noticed that the CD wasn't actually spinning as it always ejected in the same position.
Solved the problem buy removing the radio from its console leaving the wiring connected. Removed top lid - (need torx screwdriver) then with CD inserted and CD button pressed gently turned the centre plastic location piece with a screwdriver after a few attempts it sprang into life and now works perfectly again.
It's worth a try. - Beware of laser beam!
