There is a screw in the centre under the toaster seen after the crumb door is opened turn it by half turns to the left till the toast lowers and appliance switches on

there is an adjustment screw located under the bottom tray. Open the bottom flap to see it. Give it a 1/4 turn anti clockwise and try that. If still doesn't work, try another 1/4 turn. If after a full turn it still doesn't go down, try the opposite adjustment and go clockwise.
