mine wasn't working and then it would work for a second, then not after that. after seeing this thread i opened up the bottom to discover that the gear that moved the feed dogs had some of the cogs broken off, so as to make an incomplete connection to the other gear. i found this site which offers spare parts, but i'm not sure which part it is..

Or your gears are stripped under the machine. This is what was wrong with mine. When unplugged, take the two bottom covers off - then you will be able to see a long skinny gear and a short fat one. My long skinny one was stripped. Searching the web for info- found this. Best of luck. I haven't found much yet.

Either there is very little pressure on the presser foot, or you do not have the stitch length set properly, or the teeth have dropped, or you have taken the needle plate off and not put it back properly.
