Renault Laguna heater is full on and wont turn back?

Hi, My heater is in the full on position and wont turn back, it feels like something is stopping it. If anyone knows how to sort this without putting it into a garage I'd be much obliged. I will finally be able to tell my husband how its done, and he'll be amazed!!
