How can I fix my pull cord switch?

turn power off at consumer unit,then obtain new switch,remove the two screws that hold switch to back box note where the wires are connected,i e live in,neutral in,live out neutral out,dont forget the earth wires,as our simple friend said,simple ,when you turn power back on and the red light is on all the time,you have crossed the live in live out connection,just reverse them
