how can I fix my Russell Hobbs that failed with a spark from lead?

I had been using my Russell Hobbs model 14901 steam glide power tip iron for about a quarter of an hour without any signs of a malfunction when a spark appeared to come from the lead although there is no sign of burning on it. The plug fuse has not blown but the iron does not now come on.There are no signs of any damage externally .Is there something I can replace internally & how do I get to it?
