How do I take a Braun 8595 shaver apart?

How do I take a Braun 8595 shaver apart? I bought a new drive replacement part, and before I started prying off panels to find the hidden screws, I'd like to know what comes off and how. Thanks!

Thanks Rich! For reference, I have a 7790 where the battery all of a sudden stopped working after being able to hold a full charge. I kind of confirmed my theory after trying to charge it over night, turning it on and having the unit vibrate for half a second before dying again.

The batteries are in fact superglued Sanyos. I reckon I'll bring it into a Braun repair shoppe this week.

Hi guys,

All the suggestion regarding the bottom cap popping off are really useful. But would you please help me with a related question. How can I disassemble the "head" part of 8595? I need to change something that is called the "sealing plate" within it (I found some service manuals for older series 6 models that are somewhat similar to 8595, but the former have screws there and the latter don't). Unfortunately, I did not find no service manuals for 8595 or the like. Any help with that please?

I too took apart the Braun 8595 Shaver and unfortunately I broke the circuit board after trying to get the batteries - that are super glued to it - off. Even after if you can not destroy the board the metal brackets attached to the batteries are also super glued.

Remove the bottom tab and use a electronics pliers to spread the tabs that hold the side panel clips to the bottom base. Then you can use a T9 driver to remove the 4 stud screws that hold both halves together.

Rich - brilliant! I would likely have destroyed the two side panels before figuring out that removing the bottom cap was the key to starting disassembly. I used a soldering tool that has a sharp pointed hook to pull it off. You have to be careful not to break the snap-in tabs, otherwise you won't be able to securely fasten the case back together again.

I needed to take apart my 8595 to replace the broken moustache/sideburn trimmer assembly. Braun does not offer the trimmer as a separate replacement part, and you cannot order what they offer to fix this problem from them online. You have to purchase the set of two front/back half-case shells (part #7030247) which includes the trimmer assembly from an authorized repair center for about $30CDN. BTW, in looking for this answer, it seems that a broken trimmer (there is a flange clip that breaks off on the side of it that normally keeps it inside of the slide switch) is fairly common.

Once you do get the 8595 apart, by first popping off the bottom cap that surrounds the power jack, you will need a small torx screwdriver to remove the four screws that hold the half-case shells together. The motor/head and electronics/battery/display are two separate units that sit in the shells.

After messing around with it, I answered my own question. The bottom cap pops off. I used my fingernail to make a gap in the seam, and inserted a small screwdriver to pry it out. The sides then popped off, exposing four small screws on the back. I took them out, and the drive came out easily. I placed the new one back in, reinstalled screws, sides, and bottom, and it works fine!
