How can I fix my gateway laptop?

You could try using an external monitor and see if your screens gone.
Normally to do this you have to connect an external monitor , switch it on and press a combination of keys so that it swaps to your external monitor> I dont know how you do it on your computer but look at your manual if you have one or go to the main website homepage thing and download the manual there,
it should tell you.

Option#1: Boot it up with the OEM Boot CD. If all goes well, it will start up normally.

Option#2: When you power "on", press "DEL" (or F2 or F10) repeatedly until you hear the POST beep. ---You DO hear a POST beep right? ---If your BIOS SETUP opens, change everything to "Default Settings", "Save", and Reboot. This usually works.

What has happened appears that the wrong display driver was inadvertently chosen. Dont worry too much; your HDD has 99% chance of still being in-tact. However, sometimes the RAM can cause a display failure also.

Option#3: Has someone, like an angry girlfriend, dropped it from a ladder? If so, it may be cheaper to purchase a new laptop and upgrade the girlfriend.
