How can I fix my Foodsaver vac 1050?

The vacume comes on but I only get one green bar to light up and it does not go into full vacume mode. It does suck down but never goes into the full low pull mode.

So, to be clear, you can not get a lower gasket replacement for a 1050?

I have a V835 and it started not sealing. The vacuum ran but wouldn’t ramp up so it would seal. I cleaned it out and used food grade silicone on the gaskets, same thing. So I opened it up and took a hoses off at different components, blocked it with my finger and ran it until I it finished sealing. It was the coil on the board leaking internally. I disconnected the T and ran a hose from the vacuum to the left bag seal receptacle. It vacuums and seals, even the jar attachment is fine now without the coil teed in to the vacuum hose. Why would they put in an unnecessary component? BTW it vacuums better than ever with silicone on the gaskets, it takes about 5 seconds to be able to open the lid.

Mine started just vacuuming and vacuuming but would get "stuck" at the second or third green light without ever getting to red and sealing. I'd have to manually seal it at that point but not sure if all the air was getting sucked out.

Well, I pulled out the bottom foam seal (the rectangular one that surrounds the drip trap where you insert the open end of the bag. It wasn't glued down and pulled right out.), reversed it (bottom side up - which by the way was much smoother) and it works like new again. It now vacuums and seals beautifully.

I'm going to order an extra seal to have on hand.

We just picked up one of these this morning really cheap from a yard sale. It will seal the edge of the bag, but won't vac out the air and seal the other end. Took it apart. There's a little plastice piece that attaches to a rod coming out of the motor. The hole in the piece that the rod goes through (cheap plastic of course) wore through and won't stay in place. When we put it back together, it actually started sucking air out of the bag briefly before it came loose and stopped working again. And no, they don't sell replacement parts.

I have the same model 1050. It does not seal at all and only one green lighted bar comes on. With the same problem as other, I will junk it.

One thing I found (in case no one ever answered) is the problem with the green light - if you "create" your own bags, and it seals the one end but you have a problem with it sealing when you have items in it - the open end tends to come out of the well - it's a pain and can become time consuming, but it will eventually seal if you make sure the open end is the well.

Has anyone ever glued the top gasket back and had this work? My stopped working and the top gasket assembly comes out and part of the gasket "unglued".

I have the same model with only one green light and never goes into seal mode.
It won't seal manually either.

You cannot. Don't waste anytime trying. You cannot get parts and there are no repairs. THe conglomerate (JARDEN) now behind FoodSaver Van machines is interested ONLY in selling more product, not serive or parts. YOu can wast a lot of time, but you cannot fix it.
Also note that the "Other Brand" Seal-A-Meal, is also owned by JARDEN. Changing barnads is a great idea, but not withj JARDEN owns most of them. I guess you are SOL, unless you want to buy a new one. Sorry, but you have been had!

Sorry to say it, but for the most part you cannot fix it. Model 1050 was a semi-genieric, probably to use up old parts, before they issued some new models. Most (OK Many 1050s) were issued as replacement Who;e Machine replacements - at very low cost - to satiafy warranty problems with earlier models. Very few 1050s were sold as "New" original merchandise.
You may be able to get a lower 'foam' gasket, the one that goes around the vaccum chamber from some sources. Other parts? Ha - and good luck! Probably not available.
While this general type is a wonderful household product, the service and support is just about ZERO. Who knows why... There are big on selling new machines and lots of BAGS, but they just don't care about the mechanics.
Note also: Foodsaver, Seal-a-Meal, CrockPot, Coleman and a whole bunch of other Brand Names that you know - and used to trust, or nomw owned by JARDEN. They sell as lot of product, under many different names, but they don't much care about service. My guess is that when it breaks, they just expect you to buy a new one of whatever. Certainly, that policy is terrible, but it is is nearly impossible to avoid JARDEN-owned products. Their list of owned brands is stagering - yet they are very quiet. Contacting support or service personnel is virtually impossible (They may have three...) and they truly do not give a twit. Just buy a new one...
Sorry, but brands like FoodSaver, Coleman, Presto, Rival (Crock-Pot), Sunbeam and dozens more are now JARDEN owned. They don't give a twit and they won/t help you. Good Luck!

I have the exact same problem with my foodsaver vac 1050. The pump is still working but it never goes past 1 green bar. It looks like there is a pressure sensor and a valve that closes off to do the full low pull that Lyn mentions. One of these 2 components may have failed. The last time it worked I was sealing some meat and I see that quite a bit of the juice made it into the vacuum hoses. Nevertheless, I will try the gasket treatment that you suggest just in case that is the problem. I'll try to repost my results.

This is sometimes caused by the "channel gasket" crushing down over the years. Try removing the gasket and soaking it in a silicone lubricant. The stuff you use on the dash board of your car, or the silicone that skin divers spray on the inside of their wet suites to keep them supple. DO NOT use the spray cans for metal parts they have stuff in them that is not kind to rubber gaskets. Keep the gasket out for a day or two to fluff it up then reinstall it

Hope that helps.
