How can I fix an iron on number on a jersey; it won't stay adhered?

My son has a Wilson Baseball jersey and the iron on number on the back has separated from the shirt.

Lay the jersey flat on an ironning board, lay a piece of notebook paper over the number. With iron nice and hot (no steam), lightly rub the iron over the peeled spot. Do small sections at a time. Keep iron on the paper for only a second or two. Too long and the number will bubble.
