My Sony Ericsson Turns On But The Screen Stays Black?

I turn on my phone and it just stays black.. the keypad lights up and the battrey has been charged.
Also when I have turned on the phone and it is frozen on the black screen it will not turn off afterwards when pressing ths hut down button.. so i have to take out the battrey..
Mine did the same thing. When I rang them 1st time they suggested upgrading the software off the net. When this didn't work I had to send it back. Luckily I'm on contract and the thing is still under warranty. Saying that it's been 4 days and I still haven't had it back yet.
