These are called soakers made from code 3 / 6 inch lead. The first one is placed on the eve tile.Make this one about an inch longer than the eve tile and bend the corner of the soaker over the tile to hold in place. Then put the first tile on top sit another soaker on top of that tile 6 inches long. Bend them up 2 inches so you have 4 inches on the tile and 2 up the wall.Bend corner over tile as before. And repead all the way up.Hope this helps

Well, on my (1910) roof, where it meets next door (terraced houses) and their roof is higher ...

There is an 'L' shaped bit of zinc plate under every tile. In situ the flat plate is against the wall and comes down and under a tile. Each tile against the wall has one. Each plate is long (wide?) enough to overlap the next so that any water falling off the side of the tile hits the plate and is directed onto the top of the tile below (or the next plate down). Hope this helps
