My Kenwood Dishwasher KDW243A has an E4 fault?

During a cleaning cycle, our dishwasher beeped unusually early and the house electrics circuit breaker cut out. It would not restore until the dishwasher was switched off at its mains plug. Now when switching on to set programme as normal E4 flashes and beeps occur and what sounds like the drain pump is activating. Any ideas please?

i had the same problem and resolved by tilting backwards and saved some bucks

I can't believe how easy this was, currys refused to come out because i had lost the receipt.
Just tip the machine back at 45 degrees and the excess water comes out.
Machine is then fixed and works perfectly.
Well done internet.
What worse is that i bought a new machine on the strength of the E4 code.. it was more than a year old and i didn't think it was worth fixing. It still sits in my drive waiting to go up the tip... Haha not likely.

Came home to find the kitchen flooded and the machine showing code E4. Luckily it was the weekend so didn't call an engineer. Tried constantly to reset the fault without any luck until I read the comments on here. Tipped the machine back 45 degrees for 20 seconds and hey presto it's working again. Many thanks for your help

I found the answer on this site, take dishwasher out, tip it backwards 45 degrees for 10 seconds or so, mop up water put it back in should be fine. Worked for me!

I then removed the dishwasher just as the engineer had and found water in the base! I soaked it up with a sponge and while the machine was out ran a cycle which this time worked correctly. I watched for water leaking from anywhere into the base but found none. Totally shattered after repositioning it under our worktop with the help of my loving wife and we will test it with a full load as soon as it's full.

Called a man out who removed integrated dishwasher, took sides off, then found a lot of water in the base. He then said that a hose had come off at the back, centre, bottom. He syphoned and soaked up the water, then reattached the hose and clip - saying that this was a design fault liability as all electrics below including the motor. He put all back together, but was unable to start a wash from the beginning, but the machine seemed to be continuing mid cycle. He allowed it to continue saying all should be ok now, cleared up said it will cost £64. He then tried switching power off and on and E4 fault came up again. He then said that he doubted that there was another different leak this time so the E4 fault could be a faulty controller. He asked me for only £25 for his time and suggested I contact Kenwood and left mumbling that he hates dishwasher faults!
