why is my 1gb bytestor flash drive not formatting????

my bytestor 1 gb FD (flash drive) is not working it says i have to format it then when i try it says it carn't be formatted!
plz help!

is there a data write protection switch on it? If not perhaps you have a dodgy one. see if you can try it on somebody else's computer though
