Mains Fuse Blowing?

If I plug my Samsung fridge freezer into Mains, model number RS21DCNS. The firdge is about five years old.

I have disconnected the Fridge evaporator and the fridge no longers blows the circuit breaker. Is this common problem ? , Is it easy to replaced ?

There are six wires on the evaporator, I can leave all connector except the Black and red wires which seem to go via some sort of fuse, could it be this fuse thats causing the short,

The red and black wires go to the thermal fuse, and it is a known fault that these go faulty and cause a short to earth, tripping your RCD. Replace the thermal fuse.

problem will be caused by faulty defrost heater inside fridge.. the black and red wire is connected to heater ..
you would probaly be best fitting rs 21 repair kit ..find them at www.atsscotland.co.uk

A fuse IS a short - it's supposed to be a short circuit until too much current flows and it melts and becomes an open circuit - forget about the fuse.

If an earth leakage breaker trips then the whole house loses power - RCDs and RCBOs usually supply the whole distribution board. If this is happening then current is leaking away and a potentially unsafe condition exists.

If a single pole Miniature Circuit Breaker is tripping (just taking out downstairs power for instance) then too much current is being drawn.

In either case you seem to have diagnosed the cause of the problem - you need to decide if you call in an engineer to repair the machine or just get a new one.

I have owned fridges since 1966 and had never experienced one tripping an RCD. You would be unwise to follow Alan's advice, "try to move circuit to a non rcd breaker." If there really is an Earth Leakage fault in the fridge then taking away the RCD protection might be lethal.

Is the main circuit breaker maybe an RCD or RCBO circuit breaker. If so it is very common for fridges to trip these circuits.Every fridge gives off a certain amount of earth leakage current which if slightly to high can cause circuit to trip. If so then try to move circuit to a non rcd breaker.
