How can I re-waterproof the roof on my window?

I have a small piece of roof on a bow window which is now leaking, I know it has been repaired once and my husband put some waterproof tape on it, but I cannot remember the name of the tape that was put on. If someone could help with the name of the tape it would be very helpful so that I can fix it.
