How do you fix the tension on a Singer Sewing Machine?

One side of the threat comes out a real lot

1. Put a new needle in before you start to adjust the tension.
2. there are two thread tensions on a normal sewing machine, top and bottom. If you can see the loops on each stich more at the bottom (or top) of the material proceed as follows;
3. tighten the top tension or loosen the bottom tension a tiny bit and check the result. (vice cersa if the loops are on top)
4. I spent 10 years servicing sewing machines. It is a bit of an art, but if you keep trying you should get there, however PLEASE change the needle first - that is the most common problem with all sewing machines. Good Luck

This might help you to adjust the balance of your stitches:
NOTE YOUR CURRENT TENSION SETTINGS BEFORE MAKING CHANGES.
--Too little tension will give a loose stitch, causing thread loops in your seams. Adjust the thread tension to a tighter setting. (Your machine's thread tension may be a slider bar or a dial--move slider bar more to the "+" end (or) turn the dial to a higher number)
--Puckering seams may be from a tight stitch from too much tension. Try putting the tension to a looser setting (either more toward "-" (or) dial to a lower number.
--If you are still "looping" stitches, you might need to change your stitch length or put on a new needle. Also, the needle size may not be right for the type of fabric you are sewing.
Good luck--hope this is of some help.
