Oil and battery lights are on because the engine's not running - when engine runs these guys usually go out unless there's a problem...

The starter motor can be found by following the big, fat cable from the battery (usually a red cable) that goes directly to the starter's solenoid switch - a very high current switch often mounted on top of the starter.

A low current wire from the starter key switch closes the starter solenoid and the battery then provides lots of amps to turn the engine over.

You may have bad switch - bad solenoid - bad starter or even sometimes starter "dog" jammed up against the flywheel. Put car in gear and rock it half an inch with your body and try starter again - it's a cheap and easy fix and it sometimes works.

Good luck...
