how to restore laptop black screen?

It is likely that the screen has failed. If it is not damaged it is likely to be the inverter that provides screen voltage. The only solution is to replace it. You can check the laptop is still working by plugging in an external monitor. (Find a friend with a desktop computer). There is a 15 pin socket (on most laptops) usally on the side or back panel. Plug the ordinary montor into this. Look carefully at the function keys and one should have a symbol that looks like a computer together with a screen. On my Toshiba, it is F5 and it has a screen and keyboard symbol, a / then just a screen symbol, all on the same key. Then next to the space bar is a key marked ALT and the lettering is usually the same colour as the screen symbols. Boot up the laptop and then press both these keys together. The monitor should show what is happening on the laptop. If it boots up cleanly and works OK then your screen needs replacing and is probably worth doing as they cost about 60 to 70 GBP.
