306 maridian windows stopped working?

Hi All. Desperatly need help. I have a 1999 petrol 1.4 306,

Both windows have stopped working, I can still hear the motor inside making a buzzing sound when pressed. the strange thing is that the central locking works ok, but when I press the button to try and bring down the passanger wndow the locks pop up. When I leave the car and lock it from the outside it all works fine, apart from the windows, The window went down and now it wont go back up on the drivers side. It just makesw a buzzing noise.

Can anyone help plz. as I do not want to spend a lot of money when this seems a very simple thing, I thought that if the fused had blown then the power would stop altogether and not make a sound, would it still make the noise even if the fuse has gone. and why when I press the passanger door button the doors open.
