Renault Laguna remote locking/alarm?

I've just bought a '98 S Reg 2.0 Sport RT Laguna Estate. The remote locking has been working fine although it doesn't lock the boot which I have been locking manually.

However, now when I activtate the remote locking the car alarm begins to beep suggesting that one or other of my doors etc are not properly closed. After about 10secs of beeping the full alarm goes off.

I don't know why the car is convinced that something is still open!

Can anyone help?

I had the same issues with the alarm. I found that leaves had got trapped underneath the bonnet and resting upon the sensor. The alarm now works perfectly.

As to fixing your tailgate lock...On my '98 Laguna RT Sport estate i found that a pin was broken in the lock which stopped the central locking working..You will have to remove the tailgate liner to check this out, and strip the lock mechanism. I fixed mine by using a countersunk headed screw with a long shank (of the right diameter) cut down to suit. Fix this first and it MAY cure the alarm going off.
