PLEASE HELP?

Hi,

I require an experienced and competent gas engineer/boiler technician, to repair my boiler please.

Boiler: Potterton Puma 80 (permanent pilot).

Problem: If I run the hot water CONTINOUSLY for more than 15 minutes, or CONTINOUSLY run the central heating for more than 2 hours, the boiler cuts-out (with a click) and the pilot light goes out. If I then re-light it, it's back to square one.

So far, I've had two different engineers attempt to fix the problem, without success.

Between them, they have replaced the following parts in the boiler :-
- Extractor fan assembly,
- Wax capsule,
- Thermocouple,
- auto air vent,
- flowswitch assembly,
- microswitch,
- overheat stat.

Unfortunatelly, replacing ALL of the above still hasn't fixed the problem.....

They have run out of ideas.......

Can YOU help ??? PLEASE ?

Additional info: The boiler pressure remains constant: 1 Bar with the central heating not running and 1.5 Bar with the central heating running.
There are no unusual noises, etc. When the bolier is running it sounds perfect, heating works great and hot water is hot.

I need your help please. Can you fix my boiler ? I can't afford a new boiler at present, so I must get this one fixed for now. Your help will be MUCH appeciated.

Thank You

i have just fixed this problem, having e-mailed potterton.i was told this could be the diverter valve, you must turn the power off to the boiler, remove the front cover.in front youwill see the P.C.board,to the top there a screw take out holding the board it will then lower to rest, the diverter valve is behind this to the left.it looks like a brass round figure, there are two wires connected to the top remove them remebering which is which.you will need to loosen the silver locknut turn the part with the connectors on anti-clockwise one full turn then tighten up locknut replace the two wires the way they came off put the P.C.board back as it was, cover etc.really what you are doing is opening the valve to increase the water flow.I must stress you must turn the power off before starting this.when everything back as it was you will need to relight the pilot after turning the power back on,then go for it good luck.jim

Thank You, but both the overheat stat and the thermocouple have been replaced last week, which did not help.....

Between them, they have replaced the following parts in the boiler :-
- Extractor fan assembly, (wouldnt been my first choice)
- Wax capsule, (see above)
- Thermocouple,(hmmm possibly but wouldnt of thought so)
- auto air vent, (reasonable choice, air in exchanger)
- flowswitch assembly,(nope)
- microswitch, (see above)
- overheat stat.(very possibly)

To me without checking it does seem like a heat problem and pretty sure o/h stat is interrupter to thermocouple so if triggered, gas off. Triggered cos a faulty stat or due to a failing exchanger (as twin pass) would be my first thoughts but like i say, it would be a good look over first confirming pressures etc.
