Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Not Charging?

I've had my laptop for about a year and a half. At the beginning of this school year the charger wasn't always recognized and the battery was "plugged in,not charging" Since then it's only gotten worse. I've done my research, I know it's the motherboard. Ive tried using different A/C adapters and batteries, nothing works. My warranty is most definitely expired, but my question is: is it worth it for me to pay the money to get the motherboard fixed, or should I just buy a new laptop all together?

I don't have the money to do either right now, but by the time laptops go on back to school sales, I should have enough saved to make my decision. Anyone out there who has replaced the motherboard and had the problem return? Thanks

Hi
The problem is probably due to a loose / broken solder joint between the dc socket (where the AC Adaptor plugs in) and the motherboard.

It's quite a common fault with laptops, which is easy to repair but can be difficult to physically get to and therefore quite time consuming = expensive labour costs.

A laptop repair shop would be able to give you a quote or you could maybe make a claim against your home contents insurance if you have accidental damage cover
