To remove the top "white" cover, you first have to remove the front (black, trapezoidal) cover (the one with the stuck-on metallic "Kenwood Chef" label); this is a user operation, to fit the mincer attachment I believe, but if this has never been done, it may be very stiff and sticky. Pull the square-ish red knob out to the side: it should move about an inch or so, but may be reluctant to move that far at first; the black cover can then be pulled away from the machine (wiggle it - it has a central round plug jammed into a greasy round hole).

This answer doesn't tell me how to remove the front cover (the one with "kenwood" on it). How do I remove it please as the top white cover will not come off.

I'm at the stage of trying to get the motor out. I have removed the three liquidiser screws but the white cover does not come off. It seems that the front cover (the one with "kenwood" on it) has to come off as well, but it won't budge. Both covers are loose but don't come off.
Please help

Start by turning it upside down and pressing the button on the side to "open it up". Unscrew the two Philips head screws that hold in the slider then lift the arm up. Be careful to take out the screws so you do not loose them. You may have to unscrew the mains lead to give you more room. The black cover for the motor speed controller can be lifted up to expose the speed controller.
If you wish to take out the motor then turn it back to its correct way and then unscrew the 3 liquidiser screws. This then allows you to take off the white plastic cover which then exposes the belt drive. Take off the belt by turning the large cog and slowly pushing the belt off. Then unscrew the 3 large screws and the motor will "drop out". To take off the gearbox there are 2 large 10mm bolts that come out and the whole things comes off in one piece - may be a bit greasy!! Make sure you unscrew the two small screws that hold the plastic cover (it is only cosmetic). The planetary gearbox comes off by unscrewing the nut in the middle of the silver thing that you put the beater into. Be on the lookout for iron filings as they tend to self destruct!! Good luck.
