A lot of the Volvo players are Alpine based the error E-02 is probably an error relating to the laser not reading the disc and rejecting the CD.
Try a laser head cleaner, either the CD type with a little brush attached or if u can see the laser head try a Q-tip soaked in lens cleaning fluid. If the unit is old u may also have a duff laser, these are not expensive but are very tricky to install in car units, do not attempt it yourself unless you are very competent.
A quick fix can be to turn up the laser current slightly but again you need to know what you are doing.
Just a quick warning, dont undo any screws near the CD drive mech its full of springs and clips and if you take it apart you will NOT get it back together...be warned.
