i personally don't believe in rising damp every case i've seen could be traced back to cracks and gaps in seals and pointing before spending any money dig a small hole into the floor near but not on the damp patch if thats also wet then you may a problem under the floor and the damp has followed the crack and surfaced in the corner (it does this by capillery action much the same way a tree can suck water 30ft or more to the top branches) ask a water board inspector to check for leaks, was there any old lead pipes to the house? i would think that if the wall isn't damp but the floor is then the damp is coming up through the floor via the crack

brian, bathroom no dampness, damp course is a brick above ground level . crabbiepattie i,ll try this glass trick, does it matter if the laminate floor is still down, before i put the floor down 2 years ago, on the floor i seen there was a crack round the room which was beside the outerwalls only i thought this is only the settling of the house, the crack was about 2" from the outer wall, i self leveled the room with latex i poured some of the latex along the crack but it never filled up, is it dear for dampproofing for rising damp thanx

do you have a damp proof course? is outside ground level below the course? if bathroom is next door have you checked for damp there don't assume the damp must be coming in it might be trying to get out

Hi, do you know if you have rising damp or condensation? test to see, press a small piece of glass onto a ring of putty and press this onto the floor excluding all air, wait 24 hours then check, rising damp will be trapped under the glass & condensation will be on the outside.
