No heat when turned on, has previously happened, just reset it by pressing red button on back of the drier.
However this time the button cannot be reset.
Is there anything I should look at initially before paying for someone to come and look at it ?

I've just fixed mine - a cable had become detached leading to the element.
Unfortunately I'd already bought a replacement element!
Check out http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=4500 for the wiring diagram if needed (some cables may become detached when you open up the back of the dryer.
I got a replacement element for £15 inc delivery FYI.

looking at it isn't going to to help as you need to test the thermostats and the heating element but this will require a multimeter
