Having bought a new bike for my son's christmas (requiring some assembly) I have been building it up only to discover that the front wheel won't go on. the forks are far too close together. I have tried pulling them apart but they are very chunky and just don't budge. Any ideas? I don't really want to have to take it back but i'm thinking I might have to :(

take a look at the wheel spindle,is it possible that the nuts which hold the front wheel on have been screwed all the way down the spindle.loosen the two nuts off so they go on the outside,not the inside of the forks.
