How to replace RAM on a hi-grade va250p?

I'm trying to fix up a hi-grade va250p notebook computer but I don't have a manual for it. The installed RAM is only 512 so I want to upgrade it to 2gig. Does anyone know how to get to the RAM on this particular model? Is it under the keyboard or by removing all the screws on the underside. Thanks in advance.

The RAM is accessible from The BOTTOM of the machine .Just remove the6 cross head screws - and unclip the panel

In any laptop computer, just about everything is under the keyboard.
Changing most components, except the battery, the CD and, sometimes, the hard drive involve opening the case, or, in this case, lifting up the keyboard to expose the motherboard.

You may try removing the screws, but there are often several plastic prongs/hooks holding the top and bottom parts of the casing. It's relatively easy to accidently break several of those.
Then, you may need to remove still more screws to actualy get to the top side of the motherboard. It's also possible that you may need to disconnect some, or even all, connectors, like the USB and the power connections.

If you do that, take some photos as you disassemble as well as writen notes to help you put everything back toggether correctly.

Good luck and I hope that you don't break anything.

Hi Electro. Have already done a scan using Crucial so know I can upgrade and what to buy. My main query is does anyone know how to get to the RAM? I've ready that removing the keyboard can be a bit risky in old units as it may be a bit brittle. As it's not mine I didn't want to risk removing keyboard if in fact that's not where the RAM is located. Fingers crossed someone knows where it's hidden

First thing to do, visit http://www.crucial.com/ and click "Scan my computer".
Click "Download the scanner", run the file.
It will tels you what RAM you have now, and how much you can have.

If you can put in more memory:
It looks like highgrade DON'T offers the electronic version of the manual.

Google "hi-grade va250p manual" ou "manual hi-grade va250p"

You may try this link:

Include the quotes if you get to many results.

The memory modules are prety standard. If not sure, take out your actual RAM and show it to the vendor so that the new one is socket compatible.
