also my engine management light comes on sometimes?

both my abs and engine management lights on my dashboard display, come on from time to time.
the oils level and cleaness appears ok, and water and antifreeze look fine.
are the pads starting to wear? or is it more likely there's a bigger problem with the breaks/abs?
i've took my car to 3 garages, 2 of which said they were to busy to look at my brakes, the other garage said they couldn't help. i needed an auto electrian.
i thought my brakes were behind the wheels. however noone bothered to look at them. is my car safe to drive? do i need brakes?
it appears to me, that to all these 3 national garages, my brakes were not an important essentical on my car. or surely they would of looked.
2nd. my engine management light sometimes comes on and stays on for a while. but not often. there seems to be nothing wrong with the opperation of the car. it has 45000 miles so quiet low. does anyone have any advice please? is there anything i should be looking for? except for a gararge that reguards the opperation of my cars brakes exstremly important. after all i'll be driving down their road soon.
lastly, should i report these garages? i could of understood them being to busy if i'd ask for a new heaterswitch.

find your self a a good (ask friends neighbors )one man owned small garage they have more to loose than the big ones and they are cheaper . people go on about back street garages but if they were not good there would not be any .

my advice is to find yourself a good reputable garage in your area who you can trust,I do not believe at least one of these didn`t have a code reader to at least pinpoint what wheel/sensor was giving you problems, brakes are essential for safety so for them to chase away work like this would not go down well with me either, find a garage with experienced mechanics,if it is full of teenagers, avoid.
