7100a answer machine gets the day wrong?

My Telstra 7100a answering machine, I set the date on the handset but when I get a message it always gives me the wrong day. Why? I bought this in 2007 and I wonder if it's not made to go past a certain date, it doesn't ask for the year when you set the date. Manual really only explains setting the time.

You need to go through the Menu for the answering machine 7100a Menu Map as shown on page 15. You change the Day under TAM settings.
