got problems starting my ford transit t280 sometimes it will turn over but there is a grumbling sound from the battery and the central locking system goes haywire locking and unlocking when engaging the ignition other times all i can hear when engaging the ignition is the solenoid click and no turn over from the motor i have changed the motor bought a new battery cleaned the negative earth from battery to chasis and earth from solenoid to chasis pretty much checked everything just wondering if enyone else has experienced this and what was the outcome the starter motor is working fine as is the solenoid when i bench checked them any help would be appreciated
just thought i would update on the transit i found that the earth from the starter to the chassis was badly corroded also the earth from the battery to chassis under the seat was corroded all repaired now and the van starts fine
cheers for that cdc going to check all the wiring again also sent off for a new ignition switch
I had problems with one of these a while ago and was on my fourth new starter before it was fixed, bad batch?cheap crap?who knows but learnt a lesson to get as good a starter as possible, that is not to say that is your problem and not sure what the noise is from the battery you are hearing,I know there are a lot of problems with ign, switches on these, but if all you are hearing is a click then would have another look at your starter, good luck
