how can i send messages on my mobile phone, nokia E17?

i am unable to send messages on my mobile phone nokia E17.all other actions in messages are working.but i am unable to define access point for in & out mailserver. And ive tried various phone numbers for message centre but do not define a centre to connect. i am with tesco mobile network who have advised to reset the phone.
