This is a commercial site but it looks almost ethical...

They suggest that all systems will get some benefit from a power flush but the big question is how much benefit?

Here British Gas seek to help you save money by spending ÂŁ700 with them - ask yourself these questions...

Does this make sense?
Should I stay with British Gas?
What's the payback period if I have this work done?
Could I do it myself?

Unable to help you with the specific question but I have seen dozens of examples on here of outrageous Upselling by British Gas - Power Flushing particularly. I have followed the guy who wrote the article I copied for many years and have faith in the truth of what he says.

Check out the Search facility - Power Flush / British Gas - see what turns up.

Continuing good luck...

From a newspaper...

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/property/propertyadvice/jeffhowell/7760467/Home-improvements-heating-system-powerflush.html

Unfortunately British Gas engineers have developed a reputation among readers for often recommending a powerflush, without necessarily having proved that one is required. Many readers have reported that – having paid extra for a powerflush – they have then found that it has not improved the performance of their central heating, and that other faults have later been found to be the problem.
I have been cautioning Sunday Telegraph readers since 2000 that British Gas engineers are given financial incentives to sell boilers, and other “chargeable extras”, such as the powerflush. British Gas has consistently denied that this is the case.
