Help with a live feed from a working light switch for my mirror lights & cl?

How do I get a live feed for my mirror light & clock from my light switch that controls the bathroom lights so that when the lights go on the clock & mirror are independent and stay working Thanks

its not a hard or complicated job mate and you can either have a mirror with a sensor or a pull switch fitted on it to turn the lights or heater on if its a heated mirror to combat condensation

if you have loop in and out at the ceiling rose then all you need to do is run a cable to a switched fuse spur unit fitted outside the bathroom and run a cable from the spur to the mirror you take the power live from the reds in centre of the rose terminal block and the neutral from the blue or black cables you fit a 3 amp fuse in the switched spur unit turn the power off before you work on the lights

peccavi the rules have changed now,you can have a socket in the bathroom,as long as its 2,5 mtrs away from a water source, though I will still never fit one ,and I don't go to pubs mate ,and a light switch can have neutrals if its been wired loop in and out to the switch ,instead of the ceiling rose,

mm will help you when he gets back from the pub...

He doesn't like me to offer electrical advice because I'm not a qualified electrician - he thinks I'm dangerous and sometimes I use words that confuse him...

Nevertheless...

A light switch has only live wires in it - permanent live going in and switched live coming out - to turn the light on.

There is no neutral wire - anything you connect to the light switch will not work because there will be no neutral return path to complete the circuit.

The solution to your conundrum will be found at the light fitting on the bathroom ceiling as mm has suggested.

You will do best to examine it (the fitting) and report back to him as he asked...

Good luck...

I only have wall lights and the on off switch is outside the bathroom with no sockets in the room either. Will the wall lights do?

Listen to the man....

In the UK it's illegal to have a power socket in a bathroom - there will not be one.

I am not qualified to offer advice - ignore what I say.

have a look at the light fitting you have in place, turn power off first, remove the light see if you have more than 3 wires in the ceiling rose i.e.you may have 3 reds two or three blacks then get back to us,i will then explain what you do,forget the socket reponse

Take a connection from a plug connected to a wall socket
