fixing an Electrolux 2100 suction problem?

Hi, I have acquired an Electrolux 2100 canister. The problem is when the wand is hooked up to the power nozzle it won't suck. I just bought a new hose, but that did not fix the problem. The power nozzle works, and there is suction all through the wand. The power bar is not plugged with anything either. Can you help?
