bobbin thread?

my top stitch looks fine, but the bottom looks like a horses main. I am sewing into upholstery material. I cannot find anything related to this in the instruction book. Does anyone know how to correct this? Thanks for your help.

Thankyou Johan, I did adjust the bobbin tension and I re threaded the upper thread and it seems to be working well. Thanks again, Gregg

you did not mention what machine you using,try different size(bigger) needle and also play around with bobbin tension,suggest little more tension at first and increase if stitch look better. give more info if this does not work
