Is it my door or something else causing a damp line all around the door ?

Hi I have a double glazed front door, which has damp seeping through the plaster all around the door...Outside is a wooden built canopy which is meant to provide cover when it rains...All around the door about 2 inches wide is a strip of damp, I'm sure it's water..My normal person who fixes things for me took the side surround off to see if he could see any water, nope there was no water and it was dry....The builder who is not really up on double glazed doors thought it could be sealant oil, I'm not so sure as I've painted over it and it has come back each time....Any ideas would be most welcome..

Hi, thank you very much for your reply...I had a look at your suggestion and I understand what you mean. My only question is, why is it that I live in a close of about 8 houses all the same give or take an extra bedroom and I'm the only one affected ? All the other houses have a similar set up as far as there is a radiator to the left or right of the front door, don't we all share a similar set up, and if so should it not effect us all ?... Many thanks for your help....x

My guess is that the moisture is condensation. You have a nice insulated door and the wall is a cavity wall - hopefully insulated - but the wall round the door frame is brick or block, from inside to out, where the cavity comes to an end.

Often this acts like a "cold bridge", making the bit of wall round the window or door cool enough for the moisture in the air to condense.

The solution is to reduce the moisture in the air, if you can and/or to add ventilation, preferably with heat recovery and/or add insulation round the door opening, if you can.

here's some ideas:
