Washing machine won't spin?

I have a Whirlpool WWDC 9440.

It gets half way through a wash cycle, it stops and the 'clean pump'indicator light flashes. I've emptied the filter, it did have stuff in it but is now clear. When I put it going again, it just rotates but doesn't seem able to spin.

I had the same problem, brushes on the motor were worn out, fitted new brushes all OK
