clicking noise but no start up?

Battery discharged
Poor connection, somewhere between battery positive - solenoid - starter motor or engine - chassis - battery negative
Failed solenoid
Failed Starter motor

Immediately after trying to start, check each and every connection in the two lines above for a trace of warmth - that sometimes shows up a poor connection.
Otherwise, its a process of elimination each step at a time
