I have the same problem, if you replace the wiring from the pedal to power point this will probably solve your problem. The wiring of a foot pedal that has had plenty of use can deteriorate over time. You can get brand new wiring from an electrical store for about $4. Be sure you know what you are doing or leave it to someone who knows about electricity.
