Simpson encore 605 washing machine?

No Power ... one year ago same thing so called the tradesman and explained to him,he removed the lid and flexed it with both hands, replaced it and the machine started,I've tried what he did but not strong enough to give it a flex and still no power,he said if the lid is just a bit out the washer won't start ... don't want to pay another $100 for the same thing that took 2 minutes to detect. Please help a senior citizen.
