Hotpoint WT940 Front Load Washer?

Hi,
This is more an answer than a question.
I found this website while searching for my problem.
The forum is great by the way.

My Hotpoint WT940 Front Load Washer had a very nasty habit of flooding the house.

While filling, after about 5 minutes the unit would show “H20” and the symbol for a tap on the LCD. Then stop.
If left, after 3-5 minutes, the machine would continue to fill for a further 5 minutes, then repeat this cycle.

If not noticed, the machine would continue to fill until it overflowed through the dispenser drawer.
The remedy is quit easy.
Turn off the cold water tap to the machine (This model only uses a cold water supply, so no Hot tap to turn off)
If the machine is in the middle of a program, then press the cancel button until it beeps.
The machine will now cancel the program and start to empty.. (Provided the pump is not blocked)
If the machine stops before its empty, then select another program, then cancel it again as before.. keep doing this until the machine is fully empty and no further water is being pumped.
Empty the machine of cloths too once the door unlocks

Now TURN all power OFF and remove the mains plug

Remove the back plate on the bottom of the machine in order to gain access to the bottom of the drum.
It may also help if you can tilt the machine forward, but use a little help from someone as its very heavy.

You are about to remove the rubber boot that holds the filter/float chamber from the bottom of the drum that connects to the pump.
one large jubilee clip holds the main section to the bottom of the drum, a smaller jubilee clip holds the white plastic expansion bottle to the boot, then one plastic clip holds the main boot to the pump.

Un-screw all Jubilee clips with a Philips/flat bladed screwdriver.
The white plastic clip (Looks like crocodile teeth) may be removed by sliding the set of ratcheted teeth to one side.. to replace this clip, use a pair of pipe pliers and simply squeeze them back together.

With the boot removed, clean thourally.
The problem that I had, was the expansion bottle (Has small tube going away from the top, upto the pressure switch) had become blocked with soap powder over the years.
With the pressure switch not knowing how full the machine was, it allowed it to keep filling..

Remember when refitting the boot on the bottom, that you insert the plastic float/filter into the base correctly as its keyed.. then pull the boot up and secure..
Once finished, the machine may still continue doing the same fault… this is particularly the case if you had to empty the machine manually, as it may think its still in the middle of a program.
Select a program, make sure to press the cancel button until it beeps, the program will end, the machine will empty, then reset itself to a default state… now try.. it should work fine.
Make sure to check for leaks before fully assembling the rear cover.

Thank you, had this exact problem and was able to fix it (so far) myself, all that flooding because of shitty washing powder...

I had exactly the same problem as described with my WD865 washer & dryer. There was disconnected thin transparent tube which links white plastic expansion bottle under the beam with the pressure switch beneath the top cover (unscrew two screws at he the top back and remowe the cover). Connect that transparent pipe (using new plastic clip) with white plastic pressure sensor and that's it ! It works perfect. Problem was caused by unsecured beam during the transport.

H20 Problem!! I recently had the same problem with my Hotpoint Ultima WF860P and after some investigations, I found a disconnected tube linked to the pressure switch beneath the top cover was the cause of the problem. In short, this tube forces air to the pressure switch and cuts off the valve feeds.
