I have an error E246 on Canon IR 1600 - help!!?

My photocopier Canon IR1600 has just come up with system error E246 and now doesn't work - any ideas?

unfortunately E246 is associated with the Counter and serial number PCB. It is very hard to get canon to replace it as it has to be coded to your machine.
Possible but hard.

Dear All,

My Photocopier Canon IR 1600 is giving me this error Check the Printer Cover. I have checked all the covers they are closed but everytime I powered. It is giving this error.

Any one who can help me is appreciated.

Oh dear. This is a very unusual fault. It is indicating a problem with the memory writing to the counter pcb.
Mmmmm first thing to do is take off the back cover and look at the main pcb's. Please remember to power down and remove power supply from machine first.
Any pcb that can be removed and re seated should be checked. check all conections to main boards ans replace the covers. Power up and see if it all comes back on. If not post another problem and I will try and help.
