Hi, go to www.sparesaver.com and look at their 'Help & Support' section. They have superb full instructions including colour photographs of troubleshooting Dyson problems. They are also the cheapest supplier of spare parts I have found on the internet.

You have to pop out the on/off button, there is a screw underneath. However you can get Dyson to do it for you including the price of the cable for £40.
