First find out if the sound has just been muted. If there is a speaker Icon on your Task Bar (By the time lower right corner) double click on it, double click on Mixer or Equaliser and make sure the mute button is not checked. if you don't have on task bar goto control panel and double click on sound etc etc. Also look in Device Manager and see if your sound card is there and is working or disabled. Right click on My Computer click on properties click on Device Manager etc. You can also reinstall / update the driver if needed while you are in Device Manager, just right click on the device etc.
